What is this I hear about changing out the gas line?
There is a different demand for the amount of gas for the tankless units. Your plumber should know how to measure for your household needs for gas. The gas line for your water heater is normally 3/4 inch. But your plumber show know how to size a gas line in develop run to size your gas line correctly.

Can we change the temperature of the hot water?
Most all the units can have the water temperature changed. Most models today have a electronic display and you can reset the temperature on the unit or with a remote temperature pad. Some can only be set by the home owner to 140 degree maximum any temp above that must be set by a Tech.

How long does it take to heat the water up?
It usually takes about 5-6 seconds to reach operating temperature, but it takes the same amount of time to reach your faucet as it does in your tank-type. But with new equipment we can now have recirculation pumps with the new tankless units.

Our services calls are about 1 to 2 per year. They have mostly been from other installers' work, usually from lack of experience on the initial installation.

What about the exhaust pipe going out the roof? Can you use the same one there now?
In the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, we use only Category 3 stainless steel pipe. On the new Navien units we can use PVC instead of Category 3 stainless steel

How long will these units last?
I have done maintenance on some units over 30 years old. Since these have no tanks for water to set in and reheat over and over, and all the internal parts are either brass or copper, I would say at least 20 years. My opinion, but I have never replaced one for being worn out. On several sites manufactures claim 20 plus years.

How do these save money?
They only operate when you need hot water and their efficiency is about 80% or better. A regular tank-type is less than 50% in most cases. See article in Dallas Morning New May 2007. And from an article on the internet says about 30-50% of 1/4 of your gas bill.

Can these be used in commercial application?
Yes, anywhere a tank-type is used. They save money and space which are very important to business owners and home owners.
